wusb54gV4 experiences a slow connection with rt2500usb in 8.04

Bug Description

The version of Ubuntu being used is Hardy Heron, and the wireless card is wusb54gv4. The card connects to the router but experiences very slow connection speeds. This occurs in both aptitude dowloads and firefox browsing.

I'm also experiencing this using the Mythbuntu 8.04 livecd. Pings to google.com average around a second, and downloads from archive.ubuntu.org tend to go at 1K/s tops. In fact, I was able to wake my sleeping laptop and use the same AP to find this bug faster than it took the wusb54gv4 machine to load the google front page using the same AP. Very painful.

Hi barefly,

Please be sure to confirm this issue exists with the latest development release of Ubuntu. ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ . Please then run following command from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p linux-image-`uname -r` 234189

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results.
