Bug Description

This a new bug I find in Hardy but not in Gutsy. XFCE4 proceeds to the desktop when logging in the first time using GDM. Once the user logs out and any user tries to login again to his/her xfce4 session, it stops to proceed after the GDM and just shows a blue screen and the XFCE4 splash screen / mouse is not shown. cntr-alt-bs helps in restarting X but one cannot yet get into a xfce4 session. A similar report can be found in here..

Fortunately for that bug reporter, logging in and out of Gnome solves the issue, but in my case only a reboot solves it. I think this is a issue with xfce4.4.2 ( I remember to have built the same under gutsy and had such issues sporadically. As the latests-greatest version of XFCE was not available in gutsy repos, I had to compile them and attributed the aperiodicity of login failures to my own configuration errors. ). This is really annoying :(.

is that the right fix or is there a deeper issue ?

I can confirm this bug but after retrying several times, it started working automatically. I did not login in to gnome to solve this. I tried this with a second account and had the same results. Further investigation is required.

seems to be the same issue. The workaround (to disable ssh-agent lines in /etc/xdg/xfce4/xinitrc) works for me too.

After a while testing the ssh-agent workaround I have to say that it *does not* work.
It is harder to get the hanging, but it still happens.
The problem is still there.

Hi All
I'm experiencing the same issue on every third of fourth login - changing xinitrc does not seem to make a difference in my case.
