Bug Description

Binary package hint: reportbug

Hi,

Since the release of hardy, we (Debian) have seen several bugs reported by Ubuntu users to the Debian BTS.

It seems that a change made by Daniel Hahler in reportbug 3.39ubuntu2 caused reportbug to default to sending bugs to the Debian BTS.

Sharing bugs between distros is a good idea, of course. But that's clearly not the right way to do it.

Of course, on our side, we could reject mail based on ^X-Reportbug-Version: .*ubuntu, but that doesn't sound the right way to solve this either.

Thank you,

I cannot see how the fix for bug 114917 (debdiff available there) could have caused this, but will investigate.

I've now tested reportbug in a Ubuntu Hardy virtual machine and it says:
"""Report will be sent to "Ubuntu Bug Tracking System" <email address hidden>"""
I've confirmed this, using the "--paranoid" switch, which displays the message including all headers before sending it.

Any chance you're confusing it with reportbug-ng? (bug 175508)
Can you point me at bug reports that have been sent by accident, using the default reportbug config?

see http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=480920 , for example. Mmmh, maybe it's a medibuntu specific change. But the mail headers say:
X-Reportbug-Version: 3.39ubuntu3 (debreaper 0.2.1)

The strange thing is that there's also a:
X-Mailer: Evolution 2.22.1

This is a report from debreaper, which has been removed in Hardy - just because of sending reports to Debian.
debreaper appears to use reportbug, but only e.g. reportbug.generate_blank_report, which obviously does not contain the Ubuntu related changes.
See bug 194248 (the removal request), where I'm marking this a duplicate of.

Please re-open the bug in case I'm missing anything.
