cannot eject USB device (iPod) as non-root

Bug Description

When I connect my iPod, it's automatically mounted, but as a regular user I'm not able to eject it. I can unmount it, but that doesn't close the USB connection, which means the iPod is still showing the "Do not disconnect" message. Using "eject" I get:

$ eject /dev/sdb
eject: unable to open `/dev/sdb'

and using Nautilus it just prints "Cannot eject volume.". Note that for example for CDs/DVDs it works fine.

Really looking forward to a solution to this...

If you add yourself to the 'disk' group (run 'sudo adduser yourusername disk' in a terminal, then log out and back in again), it should work.
