Bug Description

Using an HP DV6768SE laptop. Ubuntu does not properly install the Atheros AR5007 wireless card driver for the laptop. Ubuntu does state that it is using properitary drivers (Atheros), but I do not see any signs of my wireless card being installed properly so I cannot get any internet access from my laptop (no wireless function).

Hope this gets fixed so I can report bugs from Ubuntu soon.

Thank you.

The AR5007 isnt supported by the madwifi project yet so it wont work.
There is a patch available if you compile it yourself, for 32-bit only.

I use ubuntu 8.04 64-bit, with ndiswrapper. and AR5007 wireless card
This work only on a fresh install, before a restart, I see the networks, but I can't connect to.

I waiting for 64-bit madwifi, some idea about time for 64 bit driver.

With ndiswrapper are problems, but work.
THope this gets fixed so I can report bugs from Ubuntu soon.
Thank you

I have the same problem with an acer aspire . I guess a lot of people are struggling with this. I hope this gets fixed some time because it is forcing people to use Windows for there wireless connection.

lspci gives me this
06:00.0 Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications Inc. AR242x 802.11abg Wireless PCI Express Adapter (rev 01)

i also tried ndiswrapper but further than seeing the networks it does not get

I had it working with the latest svn snapshot version, but the latest kernel upgrade borked my installation.
I don't know how to fix it. I tried everything.
