I am running Ubuntu 8.04 Alpha 6 and I had no clue that this had happened. If it had not been for the crash report in Gnome, I would not have known that this had happened. I had originally installed Kubuntu-KDE4, but I removed KDE4 and installed Gnome. KDE4 had been crashing whenever I would login, so that might have something to do with this. Since switching, Gnome has been rock solid. If it helps, I had installed Ubuntu under Windows through Wubi and it is still running from the file that Wubi created.

I had this same crash under the same conditions as the original reporter. Unfortunately I don't have much better of a stacktrace:

#0 0x00000000 in ?? ()
#1 0xb7def3a5 in _IceTransClose () from /usr/lib/libICE.so.6
#2 0xb7dfa961 in _IceFreeConnection () from /usr/lib/libICE.so.6
#3 0xb7dfab98 in IceCloseConnection () from /usr/lib/libICE.so.6
#4 0xb7e0224f in SmcCloseConnection () from /usr/lib/libSM.so.6
#5 0x0806f82a in closeSession ()
#6 0x08052949 in main ()

Is it possible that the retracer daemon would be able to do anything if I submitted my apport crash files as a new bug report?

Perhaps an xorg guru would know what might be going on here since libICE is part of that project.

I had the same crash when I attempted to close this page in Firefox 3 beta 4, after listening to the music for a while:

http://www.myspace.com/airbourne

It looked to me though, as if X came down completely, as I was forced to re-log-in.
