Hi Pavol,

If you go to System->Preferences and select "Preferred applications"
what do you have selected for Web Browser?

Thanks,

James

I have been seeing the same problem since I upgraded to 8.04. I can see that the preferred application was set to 'Custom'. I don't know why that would be as this is a fresh install using my old gutsy /home partition. Now I've set it to 'Ubuntu Sensible Browser' and it's working with Firefox as expected (Firefox was also a possible choice).

I can actually confirm this. Something recent has broken "open link in browser" (in xchat) and similar.

The 5-a-day bug applet doesn't respond to Open Wiki page or Open Stats either (both would involve opening the browser)

The only way to open a web link is to copy from the application and paste it into your browser, clicking has no effect.

Web browser is set as custom, with the command /usr/lib/firefox-3.0b3/firefox "%s"

Is this bug caused by the change to Firefox 3 beta 4?

There is no /usr/lib/firefox-3.0b3 directory on my machine.

There is a /usr/lib/firefox-3.0b4 (and a /usr/lib/firefox with less in it)

It looks like whatever sets the default browser hasn't been updated.

Setting to firefox and confirmed. I believe this is the failure to update preferred applications when firefox's location was changed.
