FF: general exception for firefox 3 extension packages signed off by the mozillateam

Bug #193225 reported by Alexander Sack

firefox-3.0 (Ubuntu)
Fix Released
Undecided

Bug Description

Feature Freeze Procedure to update firefox 3 extensions:

1. open a bug with all the bits required for sponsoring. Also attach a debdiff against the last version in archive.
2. subscribe motu-release and mozillateam
3. wait for an ack from a mozillateam member (~asac or as a backup ~fta)
4. upload or ask for sponsorship.

----

firefox 3 is still not final and lots of extensions are not yet updated (neither in ubuntu nor upstream). As we except a lot of extensions to become compatible in the next few weeks, we need a general freeze exception for universe on new/updated packages signed off by the mozillateam.

Thanks for considering this,

 - Alexander

Non-working extensions in the archive don't appeal to me, and since FireFox 3 is likely to be in hardy final, users will want to use pre-pakaged extensions. I'm giving it an ACK.

I don't see a big problem here as well, however I'd like to see s.o. from the mozilla team take responsibility to coordinate the release plans, and hence reject/approve new plugins. Alexander, would you like to step up for this?

yes, I am happy to act as a motu-release delegate to ack freeze exceptions for individual cases.

I updated the summary to contain a procedure required for new versions. MOTU Release Team: please confirm this bug if this is ok for you.

Thanks for considering this,

Sounds all good to me. ACK from my side. As this is a general exception request, any opionions from other team members on this procedure?
