Bug Description

Kexi crashes when I am attempting to import a mdb database. I am using the latest version from the ubuntu repositories. I am on Ubuntu Gutsy. I am enclosing the backtrace report. I reported this as a KDE bug here https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=145429 , but I was told that this could be a compiling issue. The latest version does permit importing mdb into kexi. I can confirm this on a windows platform. Apparently a new version needs to be compiled for the ubuntu repositories. I am not familiar with compiling so please include or rather add the updated version to the ubuntu repositories.
Thanks in advance

I think I want to make a small correction. The most recent version of kexi works in the windows environment. It is able to import mdb db's successfully into kexi. However the same is not happening inspite of using the mdb plugin.

I confirm this bug on gutsy amd64.

I would just add that it crashes also when I try to import into an existing mysql DB, not only importing to sqlite.

The solution:
Uninstall kexi-mdb-plugin
Install kexi-mdb-driver and then attempt the import
If it still crashes then convert the access 07 file to an access 03/XP/97 file and then the import will work.

I have tested this on ubuntu Gutsy and it works fine for me.

Is this symptom still reproducible in 8.10 or 9.04?

This bug is not relevant anymore because there are no two conflicting import plugins/drivers. In intrepid, there is only kexi-mdb-plugin and that will enable import of access files into kexi.

Kexi hasn't been in its own source package since a long time. It's in koffice for all supported Ubuntu releases.
