klmorgan,

I can not reproduce this in Gutsy. Can you provide a link to the exact search you performed (in Google Maps, on the right hand side is a link called "Link To This Page")

_http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&hl=en&geocode=&time=&date=&ttype=&saddr=Lee_
<http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&hl=en&geocode=&time=&date=&ttype=&saddr=Lee>'s++Summit,+MO&daddr=7887+E+Princess+Blvd,+Scottsdale,+AZ&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=88.879144,114.257813&ie=UTF8&z=5&om=0

But it dosn't matter what I enter for "get directions", the route does
not show. The A and B markers do show (the beginning and end).

Here is another clue, if I print the map the route shows just fine.

I am on my Solaris PC right now using Firefox and google maps works
perfect. Also works ok on my windows PC.

Thanks for working on my problem.

I still can not reproduce this on Ubuntu 7.10 with firefox 2.0.0.11 on i386 with a nvidia graphics card (similar setup to you).

Just to be complete, could you install the Opera browser and test this issue using that?
To install Opera you have to add this line to the end of your /etc/sources.list file either using the command line or Synaptics (add Third Party Repository):

deb http://archive.canonical.com/ubuntu gutsy partner

It is a canonical repository, so it is safe/supported.

Thanks!

OK, I'm back.
I installed the Epiphany Web Browser and google maps works perfect in it.
It shows the purple route perfect.
So it is a Firefox issue.

Ken, a few ideas:

First, disable ALL addons and non-standard themes in Firefox and restart it.
If that fixes the problem, the try adding them back on one at a time to find out which one is causing the problem.

Second, if that doesn't work, backup your firefox settings directory ("cp .mozilla mozilla-backup")
then "sudo apt-get remove --purge firefox"
make sure there is nothing in the .mozilla/firefox folder, if there is, delete it (or move it to be safe)
then "sudo apt-get install firefox"

If any of those things work, then the problem was some enabled setting.

Thanks!

Greg

OK, I disabled all add-on's and the route feature now works in firefox.
When I enable "Image Zoom 0.3" it breaks the feature.

Look's like that was the problem.

Once again thanks for your help.

Ken,

You are very welcome.

Since this is not a bug in any package supplied by Ubuntu, I am marking this as "invalid" (basically means "closed").

Thanks for reporting the bug and please feel free to report more in the future.

Best,

Greg

PS: and I'm glad it is "fixed" for you.

Changed in firefox:
