Bug Description

When you right-click the folders on the desktop to "copy to" or "move to," the following dialog box opens: "Could not open folder contents"
"The specified location is not supported"

After, Clicking OK on the message opens everything normally. I searched the error but could not get more details.

Thank you for your bug report. Does it happen only on the desktop? What version of Ubuntu/nautilus do you use?

I can't confirm that, does it work on file? Could you try with a new user profile?

Hello Sebastien Bacher

This "error" message that appears when we ask "Move To" and "Copy To" only appears when you try to run it on the desktop by transferring text, folder, or image files that are on the desktop.

It is not a matter of profile since this occurs in all versions of Ubuntu.

Simply create any document, image or folder and play any document on the Ubuntu desktop and click "move to" or "copy to" to produce the "error" message. The result will be the same.

Basta você criar qualquer documento, imagem ou pasta e jogar qualquer documento na área de trabalho do Ubuntu e clicar em "mover para" ou "copiar para" para produzir a mensagem de "erro". O resultado será o mesmo.

Is your userdir or desktop dir on a special location? There is a similar report upstream from non Ubuntu on https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=770836
Do you have any error in journalctl when you get the issue?

Reproducible with new and existing profiles using nautilus 3.26.4
in Ubuntu 18.04. Only seen with user created files/folders and not
with system items such as 'Home' or 'Network Servers' as 'Move to'
and 'Copy to' are greyed out on right click menu.

Upstream report closed "RESOLVED OBSOLETE" on 2018-01-12 due to
nautilus no longer handling files on the desktop.

Confirming for now but a candidate for 'Wont Fix'?
