Please add a window manager that allows GNOME Flashback to work with Wayland. The available window managers for GNOME Flashback are Metacity and Compiz but they use X.Org.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1771389/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package.

First I would like to hear why do you want Wayland with GNOME Flashback?

The main reason is that Wayland is tearing-free by design. XOrg needs a window manager with compositing to avoid tearing.

I found a possible workaround, I would like to check if it's correct and safe to try:

Just add a gnome-classic.desktop to /usr/share/wayland-sessions/. It can be copied from /usr/share/xsessions.

Thank you!

How that is workaround? GNOME Flashback is not GNOME Classic.

GNOME Classic is gnome-shell + extensions. If you want that then you can try, I don't know if that will work...

Ok! I though Gnome Flashback was Gnome Classic, some websites refer to Gnome Flashback as Gnome Classic. Thank you!

Closing, it is not simple task and there are still no plans to do it in near future.
