Firefox is unable to play flash movie

I _think_ this is because a new Flash version has just been released.

Purging flashplugin-nonfree, and then installing again reveals this:

Notice the md5sum mismatch, and the note that "The Flash plugin is NOT installed."

Would this problem be fixed by upgrading the md5sum?

Oh, and I can no longer play flash in firefox either.

OK, it could be that, but what about Gnash?

Same here on fresh 32bit 7.10.
I installed flashplugin-nonfree via Synaptics, still Firefox complains about missing flash plugin and offers to install it. When I try to install via Firefox, it says, that I have it already installed, still it shows, that plugin is missing.

Gnash installs fine, and the installation shows fine in firefox when browsing about:plugins.

Unfortunately Gnash does not play _a lot_ of flash out there, so I considder it no solution.

I have manually downloaded and installed Adobe's new flash, and it just works.

I think this bug is a simple matter of the package flashplugin-nonfree containing the md5sum for the previous flash version, while the package downloads the new flash version.
That, of course, can not work.

How do we find out who is the maintainer of flashplugin-nonfree?

Please attach $HOME/.mozilla/pluginreg.dat file as well as the
terminal output of

 ls -l /usr/bin/firefox

to this bug.

For those of you that don't want to read the page in Swedish, here are the commands used:

sudo apt-get remove gnash flashplugin-nonfree
wget http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/installers/archive/fp9_archive.zip
unzip fp9_archive.zip fp9_archive/9r48/install_flash_player_9r48_linux.tar.gz
sudo mkdir /var/cache/flashplugin-nonfree
sudo mv fp9_archive/9r48/install_flash_player_9r48_linux.tar.gz /var/cache/flashplugin-nonfree/install_flash_player_9_linux.tar.gz
sudo apt-get install flashplugin-nonfree
rm -r fp9_archive*

I can confirm this problem on a brand new Gutsy installation. The files Alexander requested are attached.

My terminal output to the above comand is :
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 22 2008-01-19 02:20 /usr/bin/firefox -> ../lib/firefox/firefox

This bug is a duplicate of bug 173890.
