Bug Description

I downloaded Inkscape 0.44 yesterday. It installed
without pparent problems, but when I tried to save
the file as a bitmap -it did not save it with png attributes. Windows XP
did not recognize it as a png file-the icon was generic.

No problem saving as svg file.

The program was uninstalled; ran two registry cleaners
to remove residues in the registry. Reinstalled -still the same problem.

Inkscape 0.44 has been uninstalled.

Intended Use: Web design

You need to make the save features more user friendly.

The export dialog does not automatically append a file extension.

Is this the problem you are describing?

Indeed. When a new filename is given in the Export bitmap dialog, you have
to manually add ".png" to the filename. I have fixed this in the current
SVN version. Try installing an Inkscape version newer than 04-jan-2007. :)
