Hello,

I have taken the letter 4
Make it 6 cm high.
Set the outline on 2 mm
On the screen the outline is nice closed at the corners.
export it to a EPS. Printout the EPS and the outline is not closed at the
corners anymore.

Howcome? On the screen is everything alraid. Even when I vieuw it. But when
I print it the outline is not closed at the corners.

Hmm, the postscript and EPS output aren't always perfect and have some
quirks like you describe.

A potential work around is to convert your letter and its outline to paths
(Convert to Path). Then try printing to EPS from there.

I'm leaving this bug open since it's still a bug, but hopefully the
workaround will solve the immediate need.

Hello,

This problem is not solvet yet.

The workarround is to covert the letter and its outline to paths.
Then search where the outline is not clossed. 2 paths on the same spot.
Close the outline with ' join the selected endnodes " and the problem is
solvet.

Its not the right way but til now it works.

still unfixed even in cairo exporter

see example file in bug 186182

for reason, see comment in src/display/inkscape-cairo in feed_path_to_cairo - we need a new cairo method introduced

Besides the bbox issue that clips the miters of the outlined 'A' when exporting the drawing only (bug #186182) EPS (and PDF export) seem fixed and produce a closed outline of the exported SVG file with the letter 'A' created following the steps in the original description.

(As noted in my comment to the duplicate bug #178825: currently the rendering of stroked text on-canvas in Inkscape is broken in 0.47pre builds - see bug #445790, but it (and the included patch by Johan) doesn't affect the EPS or PDF export)

@theAdib - can you confirm this as 'Fix released'?

oops - I set the stroke-width to 6mm instead of 2mm, but this shouldn't make a difference whether the outline is exported closed or not.

Looks the same on-canvas as export with 0.48.x branch... can someone re-check this on newer builds that saw it before?

Unclosed strokes of text in exported PDF/EPS not reproduced with Inkscape 0.48.1 and 0.48+devel r10365 on OS X 10.5.8.

Remaining issue (needs follow-up report to bug #186182?): The miters of the stroked glyph are still cut off in PDF export with export area 'drawing', unlike the miters of a stroked path or shape.
EPS export on the other hand apparently preserves all miters (stroked paths and text), irrespectively of export area setting.
