Bug Description

Gutsy with updates to the day.
I changed CONCURRENCY=none to CONCURRENCY=shell. I have a core 2 duo.
The booting messages seem odd after the change, i.e. every line for a procedure is repeated twice. Seems like instead of running different boot scripts in parallel, it's running the same twice. No noticeable decrease in boot time
When using CONCURRENCY=shell Gnome freezes when I click on the shut down button every time. Only way to recover is by a Ctrl Alt Backspace

Easily reproducible for me by changing CONCURRENCY=none to CONCURRENCY=shell

This is a duplicate of the bug 149881. In fact GDM freezes because hal is not started.
Th repetition of the lines is not related to hal, but it has been reported in the bug 172795.
Feel free to report any other bug you find!
