Thunderbird 2.0.0.6 quits very often when clicking on an email received

Bug Description

Ubuntu installed from Ubuntu-7.10 deskotp-i386.iso
Thunderbird installed through Synaptic
Thunderbird quits almost every time when attempting to read a mail. This problem never appeared with previous Ubuntu 6.10 (I never succeeded to install 7.04, Xserver did not started)
- CPU is an AMD 4200+
- RAM 1 GB
