Bug Description

After installing suggested restricted driver "Firmware for Broadcom 43xx chipset family", LED of wireless function in my laptop (Acer Aspire 3623WXCi) is constantly lit. The respective button on side of the laptop does not switch the function on/off, or actually I can say only about the LED since I have not yet tested it in a wireless network.

OS: Ubuntu Gutsy

Command "lspci -v" gives:
06:05.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4318 [AirForce One 54g] 802.11g Wireless LAN Controller (rev 02)
Subsystem: AMBIT Microsystem Corp. TravelMate 2410
Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 32, IRQ 17
        Memory at b0100000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=8K]

This is also a problem with a default Hardy install: you never know if the wifi is on or off because the led is never on, even when plugged on sector.

On my hardware, the led is on, if the driver is installed and in use. I haven't tested what happens if the connection is established and used.

Is this symptom still reproducible in 8.10?

I'm running Intrepid Ibex. The button do work and turns the wireless on and off but there is no graphical feedback.

Excuse me, but is there a way to know whether WLAN radio is on or off, if there is not a network available?

Hi guys, can you confirm if this is still a problem in Jaunty please? If so, in Jaunty can you run "apport-collect 156997" without quotes, and allow it full access. Thank you.
