version upgrade available after upgrade

Bug Description

Binary package hint: update-manager

it is actually a LONG story how i was upgrading from Feisty to Gutsy, i just have one little suggestion for you guys - DO NOT EVER LET THE UPGRADE SYSTEM UPGRADE ALL OF PACKAGES INSTALLED

if you have made a distro you must sure know what packages should be upgraded to move from old distro to new one

make a separate repository sources for update program and upgrade only those packages and let me deal with others myself

my upgrade was about 1GB downloaded from internet and it was like 4-5 times i have started upgrade program because it was interrupting, it was freezing, it was just exiting without a word, like 20 times i have started adept_manager and aptitude from KDE and pty terminal because adept was failing every 10 applications it had upgraded, i was restarting the system few times and so on

actual bug i am reporting about is that i have upgraded(?) to gutsy, upgraded all 1000 applications and there is still button "Version upgrade" in adept_updater

i guess all of that could be avoided with making upgrade procedure much easier and touch only the distro related packages :)

I compressed the above text to "Gutsy Gibbon keeps wanting to upgrade after upgrade". Happens to me right now.

I've *installed* Gutsy Gibbon fresh from the i386 Desktop CD, and it shows the "Version upgrade" button.

Same here - fresh install (reformatted HDD) and Adept Manager (using kubuntu) keeps pointing to a new version.

I have seen this bug on all three machines on which I run Kubuntu Gutsy. The various install methods were:

1. Feisty, upgraded to Gutsy Beta, upgraded to Gutsy (using Adept)
2. Feisty, upgraded to Gutsy (using Adept)
3. Fresh install of Gutsy (using DVD)

Each time the adept_notifier advises me there are updates, I run the updater and get told "A new distribution version is available". Running through this results in the message "Your system is up-to-date. There are no upgrades available for your system. The upgrade will now be cancelled."

The adept updates in gutsy-proposed (as mentioned in the comments for bug #153889) might have done the trick. Updated all adept components to 2.1.3ubuntu17.1 and the version upgrade option has disappeared from Adept Manager. Will need to wait until the next adept_notifer prompted update to know for sure, but it's looking promising.

After updating and restarting Adept yesterday, I no longer receive the version upgrade. I did receive the message directly after updating, but after I restarted Adept the Version Upgrade button is now inactive.

Hello,

I can also confirm exactly the same thing.

Thanks.

Just want to let you all know that I am no longer experiencing the bug. I
ran through adept, and it didn't show any "distribution upgrade" options.
Yay! Thanks to whoever fixed this problem.
