Bug Description
After resolution of bug 10193, I've just tried the latest Hoary (2005 04 09)
update and can say that:
- the hotplug of an IEEE1394 device now does create both
/dev/raw1394 (file)
/dev/video1394 (directory)
- the permissions of raw1394 are:
cr-------- 1 root video 171, 0 2005-04-09 18:06 raw1394
but all users require r+w access... so I think that there may be a bug in the
fix of bug-3609 (but this might just be my misunderstanding due to my own
ignorance, sorry in advance if that is the case...;)

I agree with this bug. raw1394 must be chmoded g+rw so users from the video
group have access to the device.
The workaround at this time is, once your video device is plugged : "sudo chmod
g+rw /dev/raw1394" in a terminal.
