Bug Description

I installed Kubuntu 7.10 on an old Compaq Evo 500, with a Nvidia Vanta.
At he first login after installation, restricted manager notified me about installing of Nvidia binary driver (legacy).
That went fine.
But then when I changed resolution of the screen my xorg.conf was changed, making driver not to properly work (glxinfo crashing, OpenGl apps won't start, etc.).

I found the guilty line is:
 Option "AllowGLXWithComposite" "True"
in Section Device.

It is present after installing nvidia driver (and it's all ok), but it's not present after changin resolution (or screen type).

Maybe it's only a problem with Legacy driver?

Not an xorg problem if the gui applies broken options.

Displayconfig is unmaintained and nonexistent in Intrepid, so this won't be fixed.
