I can confirm this problem. I have XDMCP enabled in gdmsetup and I enabled
"Allow running XDMCP chooser from the login screen".
This problem affects the Human and Human Circle of Friends themes. I was able to
login with the XDMCP chooser in Happy GNOME, Circles and Happy GNOME with
Browser gdm themes.

Interestingly, the Human theme works with XDMCP if it is done through VNC with
"vncserver -query localhost". This will startup gdm in the VNC session and allow
users to login. It also shows a "disconnect" button which leads me to believe
that Human was supposed to support XDMCP functionality.
