Bug Description

With Cheese I see myself in a half for a second, then it shows an error message. Only in Skype does it work as it should. On any other browser/flash-based "chats" it does not function at all, only the green light shines.

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v3.19 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'.
Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as "Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.

If this helps:

This is what I see at bootup, some "errors" that appeared "now" after installing the kernel.

I reinstalled the windows in order to upgrade the BIOS, then I installed the generic 64 bit kernel
(the: linux-image-3.19.0-031900rc5-generic_3.19.0-031900rc5.201501180935_amd64.deb)

This is what I see - again:

output of the:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

Sándor Iorgu Weisz-Cucoli, given this works in Skype, but not in Cheese or in browser/flash, this would indicate an issue with the respective programs, versus a driver bug.

Hence, let the scope of this report focus on how it doesn't work in Cheese. Hence, could you please provide the error message verbatim?

The error that I get in Cheese:

"Hiba történt a webkameráról történő videó lejátszása közben." Which would translate to something like: "Error occurred playing the video from the webcam"

Here, there is no error message, and the screen is "black-blank": http://webcamtoy.com/
in Google+ Hangout the image appears but distorted with lines, no error message, but at the start it appears good.
I'm attaching what I see.

And at the entrance/log-in I can't see the password field. Some translations are missing as well.

Sándor Iorgu Weisz-Cucoli, the screenshots you are providing aren't terribly helpful, as they don't provide any further information regarding what error specifically is occurring.

Could you please run cheese from a terminal to see if it logs something more verbose?

As well, regarding the password field and translation issues, those are not scoped to this report. If you want those addressed, please file a new report about those, one per issue.

Please provide a direct URL to your upstream report once you have made it so that it may be tracked.
