gdm: not enough space for userid when using Kerberos

Bug Description

I installed the Kerberos clients and pam-krb5 and it all works great, but
switching to Kerberos has caused a user interface problem. The password prompt
on gdm has changed from "Password for user" to "Password for user@realm", which
is too big for the available space in my case and causes the text to wrap.
There isn't enough room to wrap either, and so the "user@realm" gets hidden
behind the password box. I imagine this would also happen if the user has a
long userid.

This is with hoary fully updated as of yesterday. This is one of those things
that is probably easier to see than to explain so I took a screenshot, but I
don't know how to attach a file so I will mail it to <email address hidden> directly,
hope that is ok.

Need a technique to manually force this to happen. I can't fix it without a cmd line equivalent way to see the results.
