Bug Description

When Desktop effects are enabled and Konversation is launched, the Konversation Server List window appears as well.

The buttons on the Server List window are grayed-out and except for the first button, the other buttons fail to work. Also, pressing "X" to close it doesn't work either. The Server List Window can be moved but clicking on the KDE icon (from the top left of the Server List window) and choosing "close" doesn't work.

Also while Desktop effects are in use, Konversation often cannot be selected from the Desktop and only by using Alt-Tab, can Konversation be selected.

Please note that:

1) If Desktop Effects are enabled AFTER Konversation has been launched, this problem doesn't occur.

2) Disabling GL Desktop has no effect on this issue.

3) Konversation remains usable when this problem occurs.

Attached is a screenshot of this issue.

uname -a : Linux lucifiel 2.6.20-15-generic #2 SMP Sun Apr 15 07:36:31 UTC 2007 i686 GNU/Linux

When this problem first occurred, my system also had the latest patches. Kernel version was likely "version 13".

I fiddled around a little more and discovered that:

1) Disabling Desktop Effects while Konversation is running does not enable the Server List Window to be closed.

I noticed the same problem on my notebook with the latest Feisty (I mean with all the updates until today 18 April 2007).

I found a way to close the server list:
Open the file menu and from it click on 'Server list'.
The server's list is already shown but this operation will show the buttons which then will allow you to close that window.
Well, it shows the 'Connect' button only but if you go with the mouse on the close button it appears as well.

I had the same problem with beryl and with compiz.

I can confirm this bug in Gutsy Konquerer version 1.0.1.

From the KDE Bug report:

------- Additional Comment #2 From Eike Hein 2007-07-05 12:46 -------
Fixed in SVN revision 604746 in November '06.

Websvn show that v 1.0.1 was tagged to revision 593037 with an age of 11 months.
A bugfix release upstream would help here.

I checked out that revision and isolated the bugfix (hopefully).
Can someone else try it out?
