Bug Description
Binary package hint: gnome-panel
Hi there,
First of all I did not want UTC & have local time on my desktop. While I did this at setting up somehow the values were not stored/taken etc. Then I tried also changing through the right-click Preferences also proved ineffective, Then somebody on IRC advised me to go through some /etc/ some file (do not remember) & commented out UTC there which proved to have local time. I use local time as I have 2 OSes & the local time is given in the BIOS clock. Due to events such as bug #104091 i have had to change the time. To change the time I have to right click the clock, choose Adjust time & date which in turn shows the time-admin enter my user password, which shows my time-zone (Asia, Calcutta) , Configuation (Manual) . While I can change the hr. by just entering the no. I cannot use the minute . I have to use the up & down arrow key to do that. After doing that, there is no ok there, so I just hit enter & close it. The time meanwhile does not change in the time-applet and the only way I can see the time-change is through removing the clock from the gnome-panel. Then again adding clock to the gnome-panel (but this loses my preferences which I have done as a 24 hr. thing rather than 12 hr.) . I thought somebody might have reported it but seems nobody has hence reporting it. I did see somebody reporting it in herd 1 way back, hence was confused whether to add my stuff there or make a new bug. In the end decided to do the later. Lemme know if you need more info. Thanx for your time.
Thank you for your bug. What version of Ubuntu do you use? Do you display the seconds? Does it change correctly on the next minute update? Your description is long and not easy to understand, could you do a one line summary of the bug and how to trigger it?
