Bug Description

Full-text searches require ranking of the results; the report below exemplifies why it is important.

I went to:

    https://launchpad.ubuntu.com/people

to search for a team.'Ubuntu GNOME Team' is the second-last result.

I went to:

    https://launchpad.ubuntu.com/people

to search for a team; the Ubuntu GNOME team. I typed in 'ubuntu gnome team', used "both" as my "Search for:" option and saw two pages of search results come back, of which Ubuntu GNOME Team was the second last result on the last page of search results.

I would expect this to have been the very first result that came back.

This is also a problem while searching through products: if you search products for "gnome" the first hit is "Ubuntu" (which doesn't even contain gnome in its title or summary).

For the original problem, yes. It depends on whether we should make this a more general bug -- which I'm not sure about. My comment above still holds true, though: searching for gnome products returns Ubuntu.

This is currently targetted at "future", can this be reconsidered?

Is an example of a search for which the correct exact match response isn't even in the first page.

We have the infrastructure in place for this now. It's just a matter of using it in the bugs search (similarity search already use it).

Actually, this bug was about the project registry, which has been using ranking for a while.
