[MS-7623, VIA VT1828S, Green Headphone Out, Front] No sound at all

This system is running on 11.04.
With nothing changed in /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf, the front panel mic works and the front panel speaker connection does not. When options snd-hda-intel model=generic is added, the front panel speaker works, but the mic does not.

This machine's front panel audio works flawlessly in a 10.10 live flash drive.
