Bug Description

Binary package hint: unity

It seems that chromium can trigger this bug: either unity (in compiz settings) is set to "dodge windows" or "autohide" it works fine until I switch a workspace where maximized (not full screen, just maximized) chromium window can be seen. After that it won't disappear even if it overlaps the chromium window, also if I switch to another workspace, it won't go away ever. If I click on chromium's maximize window button to un-maxmize it works again (even if I re-maximize it again) but another workspace switch away and back triggers the problem again.

Sometimes happens to me as well. The bug seems totally random. I don't know the proper steps to reproduce the bug.

workaround from https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/763275 :
the workaround, which works for me, is to drag an icon from the desktop over the panel and back again.

What method are you using to show the launcher? While triaging this I found a bug with the multitouch, but I'm wondering if that's the same bug that you're experiencing. Can you make a short video with gtk-recordmydesktop so we can see the entire process?

FWIW, I use IntelliJ and can reproduce this bug as follows:

1. Open up any project
2. Click and drag a file in the left-hand navigation panel, as if to move it to some other location
3. At some point during the dragging process, the menu bar pops out - despite the mouse going nowhere near the screen edge - and stays open until post #4's workaround resolves it.

I've attached a small video of the problem, hope it helps

I am also having the same problem with the unity sidebar. I cannot come up with steps to reproduce it yet. However, it does seem to happen after about 20-30 minutes of normal use and window switching.

I propose that this bug be merged with 753934
