Didn't notice /var/log/syslog in ubuntu-bug attchements so I'll attach it.

I can provide Ubuntu 10.10 syslog if it is of interest.

Tried the wireless script: http://sourceforge.net/projects/wirelessscript/files/

Works fine on Meerkat. Fails on Natty.

Attached is a file showing the differences in the .txt output from running the script.

The syslog on Natty has complaints, the wireless network is detected but won't connect. Meerkat does fine.

jerrylamos, thank you for reporting this bug and helping make Ubuntu better. This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ .

If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p linux <replace-with-bug-number>

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results.

Thanks in advance.

Same problem in Oneiric Ocelot all the way through Alpha, Beta, release.
Same problem in Precise Pangolin all the way through Alpha, and in Beta 1 and Beta 2 both ubuntu and lubuntu, both generic-pae and generic.

I'm able to connect by plugging in an ancient Realtec pci card.

Precise Pangolin then shows two wireless adapters.

Pangolin tries to connect with the Aero, does connect, then disconnects.

The Realtek runs O.K.

Periodically, Pangolin will try to connect the Aero again, puts a pop up window that it is disconnected (kernel problem really).
Sometimes I can select disconnect and it gives me another disconnect message then doesn't do it again until next boot. Then again tries the Aero, connects, shortly thereafter disconnects, pop up window, etc.

I'm on another pc at the moment or I could give you the adapter info.
