Bug Description

This is regression against previous stable ubuntu relase. And easy to reproduce:
- switch to wireless connection.
- start to download any thing.
- after about 30MB connection will be lost
- to workaround i need to reconnect on every 30MB

With connection lost i mean: ifconfig show assigned ip; iwconfig show assigned AP.
There is nothing what tell about error or lost packets. Just do not working.

The problem is a lack of traffic after some traffic (no alwais the same amount) without any warning in the logs
The weird thing is that in last maverick kernel I had this exact problem with my wired ethernet and after the natty upgrade (kernel 2.6.38-8-generic) the ethernet now works perfect and the problem is with the wireless card.

I have the same issue with wireless connection. After some huge amount of traffic at high speed it just drops. Networkmanager, ifconfig and iwconfig show that everything is ok, but the network is broken. No pings, etc. If I disable and reenable wireless it will reconnect and everything will work until another huge amount of traffic (usually torrents). When connection drops there is no trace of it in syslog/dmesg, so I can't provide any logs.

The problem appeared after a fresh-reinstall to natty amd64 from maverick i386. On maverick i386 wireless worked well. So it is a regression.

Later I will test the issue on my wired connection and also using the i386 livecd.

as workaround you can use one of newest kernels from here:
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v2.6.39-rc5-oneiric/
or compile one by your self.

Oleksij Rempel, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ .

If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p linux <replace-with-bug-number>

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results.

Thanks in advance.
