Bug Description
I was doing an online upgrade from Ubuntu 10.10 to Ubuntu 11.04 alpha 3, upgrade went fine until reboot then computer hangs during boot with an error concerning EMASK, ATA01, DEVICE FROZEN, DRDY. I have reinstalled 10.10 and works fine. Computer type AMD64, 8 gigs memory, 2 sata drives, 2 ide drives, dual boot, windows 7 64 bit, Ubuntu 10.10 64bit. Reading a number of hits on the internet and it seems that there may be a problem recognizing the sata drives in ubuntu 11.04. I could boot into recovery mode with limited functionality. Hopefully someone else will respond with a more detailed report. keep up the good work to all involved. thanks

Hi Boycek,
Please be sure to confirm this issue exists with the latest development release of Ubuntu. ISO CD images are available from http:// cdimage. ubuntu. com/daily/ current/ . If the issue remains, please run the following command from a Terminal (Applications- >Accessories- >Terminal) . It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report.
apport-collect -p linux 731703
Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https:/ /wiki.ubuntu. com/KernelMainl ineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs- upstream- testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs- upstream- testing' text. Please let us know your results.
Thanks in advance.
