Bug Description

You may value the knowledge that this bug appeared on a machine with a HDD which is starting to fail.
Also I use ecryptfs.
I'm not very IT-savvy so I may have made a mistake during the bug-filing.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Reviewing your dmesg attachment to this bug report it seems that there may be a problem with your hardware. I'd recommend performing a back up and then investigate the situation. Measures you might take include checking cable connections and using software tools to investigate the health of your hardware. In the event that is is not in fact an error with your hardware please set the bug's status back to New. Thanks and good luck!

Thanks again. Here an update of the/my status:

The HDD in question has by now failed completely. But no problem, I have backed up.

Now I simply run Ubuntu from a USB-stick and all is good again. Hurray for Ubuntu!

I'm unable to get the error message again. Also: I concur with the hardware error statement :-D
