GUI.py crashed with AssertionError in chownself()

Did you install BleachBit from the Ubuntu repo or from http://bleachbit.sourceforge.net ? Did you start BleachBit from the command line or from the Ubuntu system menu?

Dave, did you launch BleachBit from the command line or from the Ubuntu system menu? (There is a menu entry called "BleachBit as Administrator.") If from the command line, what commands?

ubuntu system menu. bleachbit as root. have not tried in command line.

it will open in command line. Still shows error but does open.

bleachbit no start as root in natty

BleachBit 0.8.7 works OK as administrator on Ubuntu 10.10, but fails to start on Ubuntu 11.04

I used to get this when Bleachbit refused to start (crash):

I had the same problem on a fresh installation of Ubuntu Natty Narwal Beta 1 20110330.

I solved giving 'sudo apt-get update', 'sudo apt-get install bleachbit', then 'sudo apt-get upgrade' and finally restarting the PC.

Now everything works.

SmilingWolf: I confirm that with updates installed on Ubuntu 11.04 as of April 17, 2011, I do not see this when running 'sudo bleachbit'

Also there are no patches listed in Natty Narwhal

So I conclude the bug was fixed in some other part of Ubuntu (maybe in sudo), so I am closing this ticket. If anyone else still see this, please let me know and reopen this ticket.
