Bug Description

The latest kernel update (2.6.35-25) has broken two different things, but they might be caused by the same thing. Both the bootsplash screen and all the tty's are broken and the both break in the same way.

Instead of filling the screen, they are compressed to cover the top 1/5th or so. They are compressed horizontally as well are repeated 3 or 4 times (it's pretty hard to tell). The images also seems to be some scrambling going on.

As you can imagine, neither are able to display any useful information in this state. This is a regression from 2.6.35-24, and reverting back does fix the issues.
