When I connect my phone over USB to tether to the 3G network, syslog shows:

I'm unable then to connect to 3G. In the past I've always been able to connect.
This is in natty after an update.
WORKAROUND: I just wanted to make sure you (and anyone else affected by this bug)
were aware of a workaround - you can install the power kernel and mobile
hotspot (http://
over usb or (supposedly) wifi. It's more finicky than the automatic
tethering (by finicky I mean a few extra steps required), but at least
it works until this bug is fixed.

This affects me with my Nokia N900 phone. I could tether it under 10.04. 10.10 broke this feature. It is still broken under 11.04.
