Bug Description
(in advance : sorry for the vague bug report, but I really don't know what other information would be relevant)
With Natty Narwhal alpha 1 (as of 2011-01-10), each time the system is powered off improperly (violently), the system does a fsck at reboot (which is normal). What is not normal is that severe filesystem damage seems to occur each time, despite these being journalized filesystems.
Bad thing is that the problem affects the directory structure. A manual fsck recovers data in lost+found, but it's still unpleasant ;-).
I'm using ext4 partitions. My hard disk is recent and seems to be in good shape. I'm reporting this problem against natty, because it did not seem to happen with maverick (and the same partitions).
Yes, I'm aware it's alpha software and risky to use. I'm willing to alpha test that software and be hit by similar plagues ;-).

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better.
Do you have a high level of I/O happening when you force the computer off?
This issue was reported while 11.04 was in the development release stage. It would help us greatly if you could test with the final 11.04 release of Ubuntu. Thanks again and we appreciate your help.
