Bug Description

When I open up my process manager

gnome-system-monitor

The nautilus process is always listed as running. During its running state it starts to eat up memory until the system becomes unstable and crashes. Stopping nautilus prevents the situation temperarly but

nautilus -q
sudo nautilus -q
killall nautilus
sudo killall nautilus
nautilus --sm-disable
sudo nautilus --sm-disable

disable this from happening? When attempting to kill nautilus I'm making sure it's running and not stopped.

I'm at a loss here. Thank you for your time.

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears to be a "regular" (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy. Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

I have notices it only crashes when opening some folder with thumbnail able files.

This is fixed for me...
The problem was I had a very large file (~10 GB) file called .hidden in my home, but nautilus uses .hidden files to read file names who should hide... So the memory leak was predictable.
