Bug Description
Since I upgraded to 10.10, my nx9105 freeze at boot about 3 times out of 4.
The freeze happens early enough that nothing is recorded in any log.
using ignore_loglevel, it appeared that it was related to pcmcia / cardbus / yenta_socket.ko, and that the log lines preceding the freeze were most of the time looking like those:
Dec 19 09:26:09 Philinux kernel: [ 39.528596] yenta_cardbus 0000:02:04.1: ISA IRQ mask 0x0c30, PCI irq 18
Dec 19 09:26:09 Philinux kernel: [ 39.528602] yenta_cardbus 0000:02:04.1: Socket status: 30000006
Dec 19 09:26:09 Philinux kernel: [ 39.528608] pci_bus 0000:02: Raising subordinate bus# of parent bus (#02) from #06 to #0a
Dec 19 09:26:09 Philinux kernel: [ 39.528624] yenta_cardbus 0000:02:04.1: pcmcia: parent PCI bridge window: [io 0x3000-0x7fff]
Dec 19 09:26:09 Philinux kernel: [ 39.528629] pcmcia_socket pcmcia_socket1: cs: IO port probe 0x3000-0x7fff: excluding 0x3000-0x30ff 0x3400-0x34ff 0x3800-0x38ff 0x3c00-0x3cff 0x7000-0x70ff 0x7400-0x743f
with the freeze occuring on the last line above.
After many searches and attempts, it appeared that I could totally suppress the problem by blacklisting yenta_socket.ko.

Filofel, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. Maverick reached EOL on April 2012. /wiki.ubuntu. com/Releases
Please see this document for currently supported Ubuntu releases:
https:/
We were wondering if this is still an issue in a supported release? If so, could you please report the results following https:/ /wiki.ubuntu. com/DebuggingKe rnelBoot ? As well, can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http:// cdimage. ubuntu. com/releases/ .
If it remains an issue, could you run the following command in a supported release from a Terminal (Applications- >Accessories- >Terminal) . It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report.
apport-collect -p linux <replace- with-bug- number>
Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https:/ /wiki.ubuntu. com/KernelMainl ineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs- upstream- testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs- upstream- testing' text. Please let us know your results.
Thanks in advance.
