Bug Description

Running 10.04.1 LTS server, upgraded from 8.04 LTS.
Running a command such as apt-cache search oauth will cause an MCE to be registered, and the server to reboot. Did not occur in 8.04.
Server is stable if nosmp is used as a startup option in grub.
Tried mainline kernel, and saw the same bug.
Tried noacpi and that did not fix the problem.
This is on a single Core Duo, dual core processor machine.

Bug report was started by running
sudo apport-bug -p linux

Attached is snapshot of console after MCE

Anthony Sheetz, as per http://www.tyan.com/support_download_bios.aspx?model=S.S5197 an update is available for your BIOS (v1.12). If you update to this, does it change anything?

If not, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful.

Thank you for your understanding.
