Bug Description

Using fresh Maverick Meercat RC1 installation with kernel 2.6.35-22-generic
installed on a dell XT2

When I try to use the Touchscreen with my Fingers the System Stopps working.
Sometimes the Screen gets black, somtimes the output of the xserver freezes.

I have To say the touchscreen never worked before.
The Stylus works perfectly, and everything works stable for hours.

Installed ist the N-Trig Firmware 3.5.19.13.5
from Dell Vista Driver Package 32-Bit Version 1.206

On the last beta with kernel 2.6.35-19, if I remember right,
the touchscreen was not working too, but touching did not result in crash.

It can be reproduced on every restart.

I hope the information are enaugh

Regards Rafael

I provoked several crashes.
I discoverd that the mouse button jumps a bit before it crashes. The touches are recognised but not translated correctly.
I belive the "part_of_kern.log" mentioned above not stands in corelation with this Bug and are causual.
On most crashes there appeared no bug in kern.log

Don't know. Maybe a problem with the input devices?

Rafael Henzler, thank you for reporting this bug and helping make Ubuntu better. This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ .

If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p linux <replace-with-bug-number>

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results.

Thanks in advance.
