Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-games

Starting a new game does not make the "worm with green background" disappear so I cannot play the game. At the bottom of the screen the game scores are displayed and I can see the computer players getting points, but it's not possible to see the actual game.

Dear Kimr,

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Please answer these questions:

* Is this reproducible?
* If so, what specific steps should we take to recreate this bug?

This will help us to find and resolve the problem.

A screenshot of the issue might also help troubleshoot this issue.

Sincerely,

Dear Darran,

Yes, the problem can be reproduced. I have tried removing Gnibbles and installing the game again but the problem occurs again.

To recreate the error follow these steps:
- start Gnibbles
- start new game
- the game starts resetting the score of each worm, but the game level area does not appear.

I have attached a screenshot showing worm (orm in Danish) score point and the start up image where the actual game level should be.

Worm 1 has only 4 lives left, and worm number 4 has scored some points but the gaming level is not visible.

I can also confirm this bug - and add that it's been this way since 10.10 beta, as far as I can recall. This is one of three packages in gnome-games that has regressed to the point of being completely unplayable in 10.10 - the other two being lights off (which worked perfectly in 10.04) and swell-foop (which worked but was unstable in 10.04)

This is extremely __CRUCIAL__ to me

Gnibbles is one of the main reasons I use Linux on my netbook over Windows. If this isn't resolved soon I'm going to need to change distributions (seriously). It's really irritating that I can't play my favorite game, which it has been for the last 4 years, ever since I installed Ubuntu Dapper 6.06.

Please fix! This is reproduceable! More people it affects:

I want to add that this also affects Linux Mint, but that is not available as an option in the Also affects distribution dropdown...why?

@Skyler Lehmkuhl:

It happens with any Linux distro based off of Ubuntu, Mint included :(
I've reproduced it on tons of machines, but they won't increase the severity of this bug or make any indication of working on fixing it
