[Maverick] Asus eeepc 10001HA hang on shutdown/reboot

Bug Description

I'm pretty sure this didn't happen on Lucid.

I've just done a fresh install from the Maverick-RC onto this Asus eeepc 1001ha.
It hangs solid at shutdown (requiring to hold the power button for a few seconds).
The 1st time I had this was at the end of installation when I clicked the reboot button
on the dialog telling you that it had finished the installation. It hung with the animated mouse
cursor stuck in a particular location and not animating.

I get the same behaviour just using the shutdown menu item on the normal gnome desktop.

Dave

Same problem in the same netbook (1001HA)
If i disconnect wifi in BIOS, i can shutdown, but in the next start up i get this error:
[ 14.884837] phy0 -> rt2800pci_mcu_status: Error - MCU request failed, no response from hardware.

Hmm wireless it's possible.

I tried ctrl-alt-f1 and then did:

ifconfig wlan0 down

and it rewarded me with:

phy0->rt2x00pci_regbusy_read: Error - Indirect register access failed: offset=0x00007010, value=0xffffffff

and then hung solid a few seconds later

Thanks earshot... I followed the links and used the workaround and now my Compaq/HP netbook will actually shutdown/reboot - plus it now connects with wpa2 at 54mbps... still won't connect with "n" but this is much better than the 1-2Mbps it was getting while showing 100% signal strength!
