Maverick desktop on a Lenovo S-10 runs hot and constantly keeps the fan at or near 100%

Just installed Maverick on my Lenovo S-10 Netbook. Immediately, I noticed the increase in fan speed from the very first reboot.
It appears that the only fan speed setting for Maverick on this netbook is 100%. This is a regression potential as it does not occur in Lucid. In Lucid, the netbook is nice an quiet until it heats up, and the fan control works properly (e.g. it speeds up and slows as necessary).

With Maverick, regardless of whether I'm on AC or battery, the fan runs loudly at high speed as long as the system is booted.
