update of kernel 2.6.35-22 failed

Installed daily build 20100920 then did update on date 22 Sept. Update says kernel 2.6.35-22 failed to update. I don't know where the log is that keeps the exact words of the stuff that flashes on the screen.

Help, anyone, on knowing how to see the messages that flash by?
