Bug Description

MSI u210.
Ubuntu 10.10 maverick x86_64 (development branch) with latest updates.

When I boot on battery after login the desktop is frozen. This happens always on battery and never on AC. Sometimes gnome desktop is shown (but is not responsive) and sometimes it is not shown. I can move the mouse, but it does not respond on clicks.. I can switch to another VT.

This is regression in 10.10. In 10.04 there is no such issue.

I can upload any logs. Just let me know which of them you need.

I've run apport after booting on AC power.

I'm also attaching
/var/log/syslog
/var/log/dmesg
/var/log/kern.log
collected on VT1 after booting on battery power.

Hi!
I have the same bug on the same machine (Wind U210-010), I did not have it under Lucid and I encountered problems right after I upgraded to the Maverick RC.

As of gnome-power-manager 2.32.0-0ubuntu1 I can successfully login. There are some problems with appearance of gnome panel, namely it ignores current theme set in appearance settings (System > Preferences > Appearance). The problem vanishes when I go to appearance settings (just opening the dialog, without changing anything on it).

Maybe this is not the power manager problem?

Thanks for the report, it has been some time without any response or feedback in this bug report and we are wondering if this is still an issue for you with the latest release of Ubuntu the Natty Narwhal, May you please test with that version and comment back if you're still having or not the issue? Please have a look at http://www.ubuntu.com/download to know how to install that version. Thanks in advance and sorry for the late response.
