Bug Description

The open source radeon driver makes big problems for my HD4650 in maverick. The crash occured in a sudden.
Furthermore I have misrenderings in 3D apps. When I move the compiz cube every 1 to 3 seconds the filling of the framebuffer doesnt start at the top (in my unaware opinion).
The screen also turns black by switching from an misrendered plymouth screen to gdm. The plymouth screen hasnt the right resolution and splashes only for under a second.

The plymouth bug is gone and doesnt belong to this.

I want to remark that the crash happened when I used firefox and started to scroll.

Is this still occurring with the latest Maverick kernel?

Here, not with the open source driver. It happens with the closed sources ones (FGLRX) still.

I'm glad to hear this is no longer happening with the open source driver. Since this bug is about the open source driver, I'm closing it. For the closed source (FGLRX) driver, try updating to the latest version - if this doesn't help you could consider filing a new bug, although there is not much we can do except wait on ATI.
