Bug Description

I booted up the live cd of Xubuntu 10.10 and right when it booted up there was a notification of a serious kernel problem. For now thats all I know. I'm running it on an Acer Aspire 5515. Do I need to run apport -collect? It looked like it already did that, just checkin.

The problem also occurs with standard Ubuntu 10.10, on a Dell Inspiron 1521 with a Turion x64 and its integrated graphics so named Radeon 1250 or x690 (I believe). This has happened some time in each of the 6-monthly beta phases over the last 2+ years, so I'm not too worried, it just seems to be one of those compatibility issues between ATI graphics and the Linux kernel.

i agree with Charles, probably it's a driver + kernel related bug

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Xubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. Is this still an issue in the final release of Ubuntu/Xubuntu 10.10? If it is still reproducable, could you test the latest upstream kernel available? That will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results.

Thanks in advance.
