Bug Description
After my system has been running for a few days, many apps become slow to respond. This includes firefox and evolution, but also many others. For example, running 'man' in an already open terminal window took 24 seconds to show, and starting Synaptic took 45 seconds for the main window to appear, which was promptly greyed out as unresponsive, and took a further 10 seconds before it was un-greyed and a total of 75 seconds before I could use it. 'top' shows
Mem: 2051976k total, 1946448k used, 105528k free, 196736k buffers
Swap: 2048276k total, 16280k used, 2031996k free, 780408k cached
(Even while I was typing this, firefox was greyed out for a couple of seconds!). That looks comparable to what I get after booting, running firefox, evolution, ooffice, skype, etc, so no obvious memory problems
