Bug Description

Binary package hint: compiz

The latest round of updates has completely stopped me from turning the negative effect of compiz on. This seems linked to the exclude field in the compiz config setting manager under the negative plug-in. If i remote the Type=Desktop then it works again but does invert the background.

Historically the background has not been inverted but the rest of the menus and windows have. As it stands when trying to invert anything with the default setting does nothing. Interestingly if you hover over a shortcut but the system menu eg firefox and then invert you can see the tooltip change to inverted.

I have played around with setting and have found that setting type=Desktop again in the compiz manager then makes it behave as expected inverting everything but the background.

Again this is an annoying but as i used negative all the time I can live with the background being inverted but it does make ubuntu look very cold and uninviting.

Temporary Fix add this line to your excludes setting under the compiz manager:

(type=Desktop) | type=Desktop

Now you can get inverted windows straight after but and you do not have to logout and login again.

As a side note when you try to add setting to the excludes box you can capture the windows name for example but when you click okay the setting does not translate back to the main negative settings window. You get type= instread of type=Desktop. Desktop is being lost somewhere and not copied across.
